Eligibility Criteria and Requirements

To ensure a smooth application process, there are some mandatory eligibility criteria that the candidates have to satisfy regarding education, age, and physical standards.

1. Educational Qualification

The candidates should have passed at least Class 10th (High School) from any recognized board.

Note: Although there were proposals to raise the minimum qualification to 12th (Intermediate), the notification as of now states 10th Pass as the base requirement.

Age is to be calculated as on July 01, 2025.

Selection Process

The selection of Home Guard Volunteers will be done through a multi-tier process aimed at gauging the candidate’s academic knowledge, physical fitness, and suitability for the post:

1. Written Examination

•   The examination shall carry 100 marks and shall be OMR-based for Objective Type Questions.
•   The duration of the test will be 2 hours.
•   Questions will be mainly on General Knowledge and General Awareness.
•   Only those candidates who clear the written test will go to the next round.

2.Document Verification and Physical Standard Test (PST)

•    All the documents submitted by the shortlisted candidates will be verified.
•    The Physical Standard Test (PST) entails the measurement of height and chest of the candidate (for males):
•     Male Candidates (General): Height 168 cm, Chest 79-84 cm
•     Female Candidates (General): Height 152 cm
•     Relaxation in physical standards is applicable to reserved categories.

3.Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Applicants who are physically qualified must undergo a running event:

4. Final Merit List

The final list of selection will be prepared district-wise based on the marks obtained in the Written Examination together with additional      marks, if any, as given for certificates of NCC, Scouts & Guides etc.
